POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION:
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Political Science Program invites applications for a tenure track position (Assistant Professor) in Political Science with an emphasis in International Relations. The position will begin August 22, 2010.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1) PhD in Political Science by July 1, 2010; 2) specialization in International Relations; 3) prior teaching and research experience in Political Science; and 4) a demonstrated commitment to or experience with racially diverse populations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Successful candidates will be expected to teach introductory courses in international relations, comparative politics and intro to politics, as well as upper level undergraduate courses in their area of specialization. The ideal candidate will contribute to the international studies major. In addition, UWP requires scholarly activity, and university and community service for retention and tenure.

INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND POLITICAL SCIENCE AT UW-PLATTEVILLE:
The Political Science program enables its majors to improve their understanding of themselves and their world. The Department strives to produce students who have knowledge and appreciation of politics, political thought and governance and who will make meaningful contributions to the world in which they live. The Department seeks to prepare its graduates for employment and advanced study and to stimulate them to anticipate their future roles as professionals and citizens.

LOCATION AND CHARACTER OF THE UNIVERSITY:
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, founded in 1866, enrolls approximately ~7000 students in undergraduate programs leading to degrees in agriculture, the arts, business, communication, education, engineering, the humanities, industry, mathematics, and the physical and social sciences. The enrollment is scheduled to grow to 8,000 students in the near future. The campus is located 70 miles southwest of Madison in the heart of the Driftless Area in the largest community in southwestern Wisconsin.
