General Engineering
POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION:
The General Engineering Department at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville http://www.uwplatt.edu/geneng/ invites applications for a full time tenure-track position at the assistant professor level, beginning in August 2010.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibility of the position is to teach undergraduate courses in the department in a student-centered learning environment. The department seeks an energetic faculty member to teach a majority of the courses, which include Engineering Success Skills, Introduction to Engineering Projects, Engineering Graphics, Engineering Modeling and Design, Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Applications of Electrical Engineering, and Engineering Economy. The individual may also be expected to teach some courses using alternative delivery methods. The successful applicant will be expected to develop a strong professional development record, including undergraduate research. Additional responsibilities of the position include advising undergraduate students and university community service.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The position will be filled by an applicant with exceptional commitment to teaching and advising undergraduate engineering students. The individual must have the ability to teach a majority of the courses in the department and the ability to advise students. Applicants must have at least one degree in engineering with a Ph.D. in engineering or a closely related field. Two years of industrial and/or educational experience with a minimum of one year of educational experience is required. Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills are essential. The candidate must have a demonstrated commitment to or experience with racially diverse populations.
