ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
A tenure track position at the assistant professor level in the Electrical Engineering Department
B.S. in electrical engineering and Ph.D. in electrical engineering or a closely related field by July 1, 2010. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and other undergraduate activities. The successful candidate will have at least one year of teaching experience at the minimum level of teaching assistant in an engineering program. Teaching experience above the TA level, industrial experience, and professional registration are preferred. The candidate should be able to teach a broad spectrum of EE courses including laboratories. We encourage strong candidates in the areas of power systems, power electronics, motor drives, renewable energy, controls, and digital electronics to apply. He or she must have enthusiasm for professional engagement with students in and out of the class room. The applicant must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English. The candidate must have a demonstrated commitment to or experience with racially diverse populations.
The primary responsibility will be to teach undergraduate electrical engineering courses including laboratories. Teaching assignments will include course delivery at UW-Rock County, where UWP has collaborative programs. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, curriculum development, academic advising to students, serving as advisor to student organizations, developing research and seeking extramural funding, participating in outreach, participation in department, college, and university services, and teaching at non-traditional times. The applicant will be required to teach courses through alternative delivery methods. Other specific duties may be assigned by the department chair or college dean.

The Department of Electrical Engineering is an ABET accredited program with currently 10 tenure track and one full time teaching academic staff positions. The department has four emphasis areas: Digital, Electronics & Communications, Control, and Power & Energy. The EE program is a very hands-on program where laboratories are an integral part of EE courses. UWP has recently established two collaborative programs; one in Janesville WI (at UW-Rock County), and the other in Menasha WI (at UW Fox Valley). This position is at UW - Rock County. Consulting opportunities are available in Platteville as well as Janesville.
