The University of Wisconsin-Platteville School of Education (SOE) invites applications for the position of Director of the School of Education. The University of Wisconsin-Platteville was founded in 1866 and is the oldest comprehensive university in Wisconsin. Platteville is located in southwestern Wisconsin, and the University has a student population of 7,000.
The SOE is housed in the College of Liberal Arts and Education, with a full-time faculty of 25 and an enrollment of 1,300 students. The SOE offers undergraduate degree programs in health, physical education, adapted physical education, early childhood (B-11 special education inclusion), elementary, middle level and secondary education. Graduate programs leading to licensure are: Educational Administration, English as a Second Language, Special Education/Cross-Categorical, Reading Teacher and Reading Specialist. The SOE also offers a Master of Science in Education, a Master of Science in Counselor Education and a Master of Science in Adult Education. The School of Education is accredited by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, NCATE and HLC.
Candidate must hold a doctorate in educational leadership, education and/or teaching or curriculum and instruction. Candidate must have five years public school experience and a record of accomplishment in higher education that justifies tenure. A strong record of successful leadership, teaching, oral and written communication, organization, and scholarship are required. Candidate must have willingness to develop relationships with schools served by UW-Platteville. Candidate must have commitment to or experience with racially diverse populations.
The appointment as director will be a limited appointment with concurrent ranked faculty status tenure in an acceptable field. The director serves at the pleasure of the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Education. Review of applications will begin November 15, 2009. Preferred start date is July 1, 2010.
