Department of Biology
Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology (tenure-track, full-time, 9 month contract).
Teaching undergraduate biology courses, including foundational courses in the biology major, entomology or invertebrate zoology, and advanced courses depending on the candidate's expertise and departmental need. Participation in scholarly activities, academic advising to students, and department, college and university service is required. It is expected that the successful candidate remain professionally active in the biology community.
A doctorate in biology or closely related field completed by June 30, 2010, specialization in entomology or invertebrate zoology, strong commitment to undergraduate education, willingness to collaborate with students and colleagues, commitment to become involved in university service, and a demonstrated commitment to or experience with racially diverse populations. Experience teaching and directing research at the undergraduate level and a broad biology background are preferred. Demonstrable oral and written communications skills are required.

The Department of Biology has 14 faculty and staff members. The department offers an undergraduate degree in biology with emphases in biohealth/physiology, botany, cytotechnology, ecology, molecular/genetics, secondary education, and zoology. We emphasize experiential learning and have up-to-date, well-equipped labs and classrooms in Boebel Hall. The UWP Pioneer Farm offers a multitude of field-based research and teaching opportunities in agro-ecology and, in conjunction with the UWP Forensic Investigation Research Facility, is also available for forensic entomology studies.
