Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Engineering (tenure-track)
Teaching physical chemistry, general chemistry, and upper-level courses related to expertise; supervising undergraduate research. Additional responsibilities include continued development of the physical chemistry curriculum; seeking external funding for undergraduate research; performing committee service and other duties as assigned.
A Ph.D. in chemistry and one year of teaching experience are required. Two-semesters of half-time teaching assistantship in graduate school meet this requirement. Qualifications also include commitment to fostering and increasing racial and gender diversity on campus, excellent oral and written communication skills, and experience in mentoring undergraduate research. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to effectively teach general chemistry and calculus-based physical chemistry courses. Instrumental experience is a plus. Candidates that contribute to existing program emphases will be given preference.
$45,000 - $48,000; commensurate with experience.
Start date will be either January 8 or August 22, 2010.
