Grant Proposal Development Officer
POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

DUTIES:
The person in this position will report to the Director of Sponsored Programs (OSP). He/she will meet with faculty and staff individually or in groups to conceptualize, create, develop ideas for proposals; match funding opportunities to faculty interests and disciplines by searching databases; disseminate funding and collaboration opportunities to faculty and staff; assist them in preparing and writing proposals, editing, creating budgets and budget narratives; interact with granting agency program officers; serve as the primary writer of proposals that impact the university or address priority university goals; obtain letters of support from administrators, faculty/staff and government officials; assist the Director in developing in-service trainings for faculty/staff; provide backup for the Director of OSP; engage in other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science/Arts degree required, master's degree preferred; minimum of three years experience in grant development, including demonstrated ability to develop, review, write, edit, create budgets/budget narratives and submit proposals; excellent oral and written communication skills; a demonstrated commitment to or experience working with racially diverse populations including people of national and international backgrounds; ability to handle multiple tasks, deadlines and working styles; knowledge of computers including the use of email, email attachments, internet, electronic research administration; knowledge of federal, state, and university grant programs that support research, instruction and public service across a range of disciplines and their submission process.

SALARY RANGE:
Commensurate with experience; excellent benefits package

STARTING DATE:
As soon as possible after January 1, 2010
