Assistant Professor in Counselor Education

The Graduate Department of Counselor Education at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is seeking a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor starting in Fall 2008. Teaching and counseling supervision are the primary foci of the position, followed next by scholarship and university service. Great flexibility in choosing the types of scholarship, research and service is offered. In addition to teaching electives consistent with candidate's area(s) of expertise, clinical courses in school counseling, mental health, and/or college student personnel are taught. Core course offerings in the program include: Counseling Techniques, Family and Multicultural Counseling, Group Counseling, Developmental Psychology, Vocational Counseling, Theories, Assessment, Research and Practicum Supervision.

Qualifications: Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education or a closely related field with an emphasis in school counseling. ABD is acceptable, Ph.D. or Ed.D. must be completed prior to being considered for tenure. A minimum of one year successful graduate college instruction experience, with a preference for candidates with clinical supervision, and one year of counseling experience in an education setting is required. Candidates should demonstrate commitment and experience with ethnically diverse populations, including a demonstration of academic knowledge of race, gender, SES, ethnicity and sexual orientation. Preferred candidates will possess a desire to engage in advocacy for multicultural awareness and education in the college and on campus.
