Minutes for November 2, 2000 The meeting was called to order at 4:05PM by President Mark Broker. 1. Announcements We have a total of 24 members. Sodas are missing from the refrigerator. If you want to pay in bulk let Greig or someone know. 2. Approval of Minutes from October 26 A few edits. 3. Treasurers Report No report. 4. Committee Reports A. Physics is Phantastic Mark put on the show for Platteville Middle School on the 1st. This was for 1-6th graders, about 136 people B. Colloquium Wed the 8th there is a recruitment meeting for people interested in EP. Dr. Jeong - Holography show, has been sponsored by SAB. UW EP - Evensen's mentor in Madison is advisor for Pegasus. C. Trip Social Planetarium was rescheduled because only one person was interested. Canoe trip Sat. No date yet for a Pegasus tour. D. Bulletin Board Got material now. F. Additional committees 1. Exam Book Have some answers now. 2. Research projects Some projects have been claimed already. 6. Physics is Phantastic Phunshop Info is out to students now and was promoted at the Nov 1 show. Demos are being scheduled. A shattering glass demo is being Investigated. Meeting next week to settle details. 7. Host Spring Zone Meeting Contact Earl Blogett about hosting. Suggestion to have it the weekend of Expo. See Physics Today for examples of Felice Frencel's work. 8. Other WAPT convention was interesting. There were 4 students presenters and 7 posters. It was moved that presenters had free banquet, they and poster presenters had membership dues waived. The presentations were Amanda Project neutrinos in Antarctica, growing magnetic films, astronomical viewing related to humidity and temp, and a trebuchet. Greg moved to adjourn at 4:57 PM.
