Minutes of October 1, 1998 Meeting

The meeting was called to order by President Erin Rischette at 4:01PM.

1.  Announcements
	Committees will meet after the regular SPS meeting.
	Do not send renewal dues directly to National SPS HQ.
	T-Shirts are for sale, see JJ Wilson

2.  The minutes of 9/17/98 were corrected to state that our chapter is in Zone
	9 not Zone 8.  The corrected minutes were then approved.

3.  Treasurer's report was read by VP/Treas Mark Bertolasi.

4.  Committee Reports
	Sunrayce - We are still behind but things are starting to happen.  Big
		group meeting soon.
	Physics is Phantastic - have a list of experiments and schools to
		visit, need people to help.
	Trip/Social- 
		Canoeing on Friday, meet at 3PM outside Otts.
		Pizza Party went well.  There was a lot of leftover pizza.
		M - SPS has helped out with constructing the new steps the past
			few weekends.
	SPS Zone Meeting - Spring 99:  Went to Zone 11 meeting in Cedar Rapids.

5.  Tutors
	Would be on call/available to help athletes through Athletic Dept.  -
	see Erin.

6.  Test Packets
	Test packet sales went well.  We ran out of 264 packets.
	Wink motioned to remove Dr. Domann's tests from packet and Dr. St. 
	John's and Dr. Hensleys tests.   He also requested that we seek out the
	best price to make more packets up.  Mark Eldredge seconded the motion.
	Motioned passed.

     Book Sales
	We need to find out appropriate prices in order to sell the books we
	have acquired to students.

7.  Other
	Wink said that students need to talk to Greg Olney, the Physics Lab
	tech, before operating equipment in the shop.  He will train the people
	on equipment if necessary or he will make the parts, if someone needs
	extensive training, in order to save time.

Mark Eldrege motioned to adjourn the meeting.  Brian Wink seconded it.  The
motion passed, and the meeting was adjourned at 4:29PM.
