Minutes of September 17, 1998 Meeting

The meeting was called to order by Vice-President Mark Bertolasi at 4:07PM.

1.  Announcements
	Thanks to Brian Rach, Geoff Barrows, and Mark Bertolasi for working the
		SPS table at the Organization Fair.
	Employer Fair in Ullsvik Center on September 22.
	Popcorn and Soda -> FREE at meeting for everyone
	Material Science Open House at U-Minnesota on October 17.
	SPS Session on Undergrad Research January 9-14, 1999.  Papers need to
		be submitted by October 2.
	Mark is filling in for Erin. She is in D.C. at SPS Nat'l Convention
		representing Zone 9 as its Associate Zone Councilor.


2.  The minutes were approved as read from 9/3/98.

3.  Treasurer's Report was read.  Account balances will be double checked.

4.  Committees/Appointments
	Appointments were made to the following committees:
		Physics is Phantastic
		Colloquim
		Trip/Social
		Bulletin Board
		SPS Spring Zone Meeting 

5.  Pizza Party
	Friday evening September 25 at JJ Wilson's house @ 5-5:30PM.
	Must have membership paid to attend.
	People are needed for PIZZA CONSTRUCTION AND COOKING!
	The pizza assembly line will commence on Friday the 25th at 2PM in 205.

6.  M
	SPS has volunteered to work on the M Saturday the 19th starting at 8AM.
	Please wear gloves and boots or tennis shoes.

7.  Tutors
	SPS has been contacted by the Athletic Department to help provide
	tutors twice a week at an Athletic Study Hall in Doudna in the Little
	Theater on Monday from 7-9:30 and 136 on Thursdays from 7-9:30PM.  This 
	would be on an AS NEEDED basis.  The athletic department would contact
	the tutors if help was needed in certain areas.  A signup sheet was
	passed around.

8.  Sales
	Test Packets-
		A table will be set up soon outside OTTS 222 to sell packets
		of old Physics tests.  People will be contacted to sell.
	Book Table-
		The value of books donated to SPS must be determined so we
		can charge an appropriate price at a table that will be set
		up soon in the entrance to Otts.

9.  Canoe Trips
	Sean Lynch, Dave Minerath, and John Schmitt went canoeing outside
	Potosi on September 12.

10. Other
	SPS has received a letter regarding fundraising assistance by the
	Direct Marketing Class -- it was forwarded to Sunrayce.

	SPS also received a Student Orgainization To Do Handbook - we are doing
	ok with regards to its timeline.

Dave Minerath made a motion to adjourn.  Mike Aufdermauer seconded the motion.
The meeting was adjourned at 5PM.
