Minutes for September 7, 2000

The meeting was called to order at 4:02PM by President Mark Broker.

1. Announcements

        Hello, and Welcome back everybody. Lukus gave the wise advise of not
	going over logjambs in the spring. (or at least not a miles worth of
	them). The three ceader strip canoes are downstairs to be brought up and
	admired. There is an undergrad research oppertunity available, talk to 
	Mark for details.

2. Approval of Minutes from May 4

	Approved

3. Treasurers Report

        No change.

4. Committee Reports

	New committees need to be made

5. Committee Formation
	
	A. Physics is Phantastic 
		The name decided opon by a 8 to 6 vote over Phundamental was
		Phantasic Lukas is heading the committee but is leaving in 
		Dec, Jill and Erin will help.

	B. Colloquium 
		Jeff W. is heading it this year. Expect talks from people who
		had REUs this summer. Jordan Maqumay might be pursuaded to talk
		about quantum physics.

	C. Trip Social
		Geoff B. and Joe E. will be working on trips is year.

	D. Bulletin Board 
		Publicity has been added to Bulletin board responsibilities.
		Erin is in charge and Jessica will help.

	F. Additional committees
		1. The Physics is Phantastic Phunshop will be worked on by Joe
			Look for Erin for help.
		2. Travis, Chris, and Geoff will work on an Examination
			Booklet.

6. Recruitment and September Pizza Party

	This Saturday there will be a canoe trip with the new canoes down the
		Wisconsin River meet at quarter to 10am in back of Otts. 
		Advertising by leaving out the canoes in Otts 
		and visiting Freshman classrooms.
	Vollyball tournament on Fri the 15th. and Caving the next week.

7. Social Fiscal Policy

	Paying was decided that for socials like canoeing the invidual people
		going should divide up the payment between them. 

8. Canoes 

	Two more to be made. We will have a total of three, and JJ has one of
		his own. We are still raffeling off the fourth. Come and make 
		suggestions for the the design of the last two canoes. Come 
		help make on Friday.

9. Organization fair
	
	There is an organization fair on Tuesday the 19th from 11-1. The canoes
	will be there. Thanks to all the great people that volunteered to help.

10. Other

	We have a new zone councilor AMY, Amy and Erin will be going to a
		meeting in DC next week.
