
Bioclub Minutes for November 29, 2000
1. Order called at 6:00 pm
2. Old Business:
a. The Jaycees have enough help to make food baskets for the holiday
season but will keep us in mind and contact us to help with a project in the
spring.
b. The Spurgeon Winery Tour in Highland is Saturday, December 2. Meet at
the Orange Lobster of the Fieldhouse at 9 sharp and bring a car if you can
drive.
c. December 13 will be the chili and games party at Beth's house at about
5:30 pm. Sign-up for something to bring!!
3. New Business:
a. There are different hazardous materials informative and certification
sessions in January. The 40 hour session costs $250 and the eight hour session
does cost less. E-mail reclamation@uwplatt.edu for information.
b. The Pioneer Service Club is collecting new or used toys (in good and
clean condition) and canned goods. There are different point totals that are
awarded for each item donated and the organization that donates the most can
win first, second, or third prizes (including free pizza, surprise from the
men's bball team, etc). Drop off whatever you would like to donate in the
Bioclub room; submissions are due on December 7.
c. The Diversity Committee is sponsoring a Christmas card making evening
on December 6 at 6 pm in the Le Cafi of the Ullsvik Center. There will be
sugar cookies and hot cocoa for participators!
d. The campus Public Relations Committee is putting together a
yearbook-like CD of the different organizations of campus. Donated pictures,
names, and stories will be recorded. If you have any pictures to share, that
would be great!
e. The International Crane Foundation is open from April 15 through
October 31 for tours. The cost is $5.50 per person (fifteen person minimum)
and it is located in Baraboo. Perhaps we can take a trip there this spring!
f. Members voted on making the t-shirt have the theme of "what I learned
in biology." Have ideas ready for the chili/game night meeting and we will put
it together then. You can also e-mail bioclub with your ideas.
g. Becca projected the idea of making a petri plate ornament for the SAB
Christmas tree decoration. Although we are past the due date for this year,
perhaps we could still put something together to practice for next year and
give them away to the bio faculty and advisors.
