
OVERVIEW
The American Society of Civil Engineers is the oldest national engineering society in the
United States. The mission of ASCE is to enhance the quality of life worldwide by advancing
professional knowledge and improving the practice of civil engineering in service to
humanity. Founded in 1852, ASCE has more than 25,000 student members.
THE UWP CHAPTER
As a member of ASCE at UWP, you will have the opportunity to compete in intercollegiate engineering competitions,
go on engineering-related field trips, and listen to practicing engineers in the field who
discuss the unique projects on which they are working. By becoming involved with ASCE you will
learn more about putting civil engineering to practice and have the opportunity to meet and
network with professionals in your field.
General Announcements:
This year's Spring Banquet will be on Thursday, May 8th at 5:15 PM. It will be located in
the Platteville East & West Rooms in the PSC. If you haven't paid yet, you can pay the $10
when you show up.

As if you didn't have enough reasons to come to ASCE business meetings, we thought of one more.
Starting this semester, students will receive one raffle ticket for each meeting attended.
At the end of the semester, we will be having a raffle and picking one winner who will be a proud
owner of a new iPod nano (or gift certificate). We hope to see you all at our next meeting!
