What is the Faculty Fashion Contest?

A contest to see whom among the University of Wisconsin - Platteville Faculty has the absolute WORST fashion sense. Alpha Phi Omega will have a table set up in the Student Center during lunch, and in Glenview Commons during dinner for students and other faculty to vote. The cost is only $.01 a vote (yup just a penny), and you can vote for as many people as you want, as many times as you want.

Who can run for the Faculty Fashion Contest?
Anyone who teaches a class at UWP may run. In order to run a faculty member must send an email to: ketchpaa@uwplatt.edu stating that they would like to participate in this contest (this way no one gets offended). Only those faculty that have stated that they would like to participate will have their name on the ballot, there will be no write-in's. We would like to encourage the entire faculty to participate, even if they do not wish to “dress up,” this way we have a large list of faculty for the students and other faculty to vote for. If certain faculty members do not wish to participate, we would appreciate their support by simply mentioning to their students the contest is being held.

Where does all of the money go?

100% of the money that we collect will go to charity. What charity you might ask? Well... we don't know. The catch is that the faculty member that wins the contest will have the honor of choosing what national charity all of the money will go to. With this incentive, many people in the faculty may want to actively participate in this contest in order to win; possibly by dressing very poorly during the days we are holding the contest. (Suggested ideas: Wearing cloths that are out of date, or don't match. Wearing your clothes backwards, or inside out. Wearing bad makeup. Or for the daring: cross dressing) No matter what, be creative in your poor fashion, be sure to remind your students why you are dressing bad, and tell them to vote for you!

What charities can the money go to?

Any national charity. Alpha Phi Omega focuses on 4 main types of service, service to the fraternity, service to the campus, service to the community, and service to the Nation. We would like for this contest to be one that benefits everyone in the nation, so we only ask that when a charity is chosen, that this is kept in mind. Below is a list of popular charities, however, a faculty member may choose any other charity that they like, as long as it benefits the nation.
