UW-Platteville Alchemist Club

Girl Scout Weekend

Girl Scout weekend is a chance to promote teaching for Alchemists.  Volunteers put on several hands-on demonstrations for the Girl Scouts to participate in which have an emphasis on everyday life.  The event also serves to promote women to seek careers in science.

Boy Scout Weekends

The Boy Scouts enjoy a similar amount of attention each year during our three consecutive Boy Scouts events.  Here the emphasis is on requirements for their Chemistry merit badge.

Pumpkin Decoration 20Oct2009

Each year the Alchemist club decorates a pumpkin for each of the chemistry faculty.  Following this, we blow up several pumpkins as demonstrations.

Pumpkin Explosion

The commons around Ottensman hall were filled with a mixture of smoke, pumpkin pieces, and explosions this year during our annual pumpkin explosion.  Several pumpkins were also dropped off the roof after being frozen in liquid nitrogen.

Adopt-A-Highway 07Nov2009

We were fortunate enough to have gorgeous weather for November during our Adopt-A-Highway activity Saturday afternoon.  We managed to collect around 6 garbage bags worth of debris as well as several large items including a large amount of carpet padding.  The stretch of cleaned highway is located slightly North of Platteville.
