The Office of Information Technology (OIT) regularly schedules system outages for upgrades, maintenance and repair. Any or all IT services could potentially be down during an outage, including computer lab access, Internet access, network printing, network applications, network storage and e-mail. Most users should be able to use their computers locally when an outage occurs. System outages fall into three categories:

  1. Regular 4:15 pm to 5:15 pm Friday Outage: Most OIT repairs or upgrades will occur during this regular Friday afternoon outage.

  2. Daily 6:00 am to 7:00 am Outage: This outage will only be used when repairs or patches must occur before Friday's regular outage.

  3. Emergency Outages: On rare occasions, security vulnerabilities or performance problems may necessitate unscheduled outages during normal University hours. Every effort will be made to inform the campus of these outages ahead of time.

Any questions about the outages, including requests to suspend an outage window, should be directed to Mike Sherer, Deputy Chief Information Officer (sherer@uwplatt.edu).
