Vision Statement:

Information Technology (IT) at the University of Wisconsin - Platteville (UWP) is deeply embedded and integrated within the instructional, social, and administrative activities of the campus and is one of the foundations upon which the campus builds its future.

UWP is committed to applying technologies for the acquisition, use and dissemination of information throughout every phase of university life. Graduates will be recognized for their knowledge and skill in applying information technologies to the challenges and opportunities in their professional and personal lives. Faculty and staff will be leaders in applying information technologies to instruction, research and service. UWP will be a model for the creative use and pedagogically sound application of information technologies serving the nation, state, and southwest Wisconsin.

THEME: Infrastructure

Provide a technological infrastructure that supports the university's programs and services and optimizes administrative and academic efficiencies.

Initiatives

  1. Provide a flexible, reliable, stable and secure infrastructure.

  3. Implement and support collaborative and hosted common systems as appropriate.

  4. Support pervasive and mobile technologies.

Deliver quality information technology services to the campus community.

  1. Adapt the IT organizational and operational structure to best serve the University.

Promote and support the use of Information Technology for learning.

Initiatives

  1. Establish and support incentives to encourage faculty and staff in the creative use and application of information technology for teaching, research, and distance learning.

  2. Support the establishment of student goals for information technology literacy so that students may effectively engage in learning and research.

  3. Promote and support the effective use of course management systems.

  4. Integrate and improve access to online library, campus and other resources.

Obtain appropriate financial resources to support and maintain information technology.

  1. Prioritize and manage IT projects with input from university administrators and campus advisory committees.

  2. Minimize costs and optimize efficiencies through collaborative opportunities.
