Mac OS 9 users can access a network volume by mounting the volume on the desktop.

To mount a volume on the desktop:
  1. Select the Chooser from the Apple Menu

  2. When the Chooser appears, click on the AppleShare icon on the left side of the Chooser window

    Chooser

  3. On the lower-right area of the Chooser window, select Server IP Address...

    Server address

  4. Enter the DNS name of the server in the window, and click Connect. The primary NetWare volumes and their DNS names are:

    Volume DNS name
    App1app1_svr.nw.uwplatt.edu
    Shared1shared1_svr.nw.uwplatt.edu
    User1user1_svr.nw.uwplatt.edu
    Web1web1_svr.nw.uwplatt.edu

  5. You will now be asked to login. Enter your UW-Platteville NetID and password, and select Connect.

    Authenticate
Note: Sometimes you will see another window that shows multiple volume names. This is normal since some servers host more than one volume. Simply select the volume you wish to mount and select OK. The volume you selected will be mounted and displayed as an icon on your desktop.
To unmount a volume, simply drag it's icon to the Trash.
