SFTP

All of the network storage volumes available to users can be accessed via the SFTP protocol by using an SFTP client (Examples: WinSCP for Windows / Cyberduck for Mac / FileZilla for multiple OS's). Below are basic instructions that apply to most SFTP clients.

• Using an SFTP client, login to sftp.nw.uwplatt.edu (use port number 22 if asked)
• When prompted for a User ID or username, enter your UW-Platteville NetID.
• When prompted for a password, enter your NetID password.
• When you first connect, your default directory will be your user directory. Use standard FTP commands to change directories on the current volume.

To change directories to another volume, enter the UNC (Uniform Naming Convention) path of the location you wish to change to.

Examples of UNC paths to storage volumes include:

\\Shared1_svr\Shared1
