You can change your NetID password if you forget it by configuring the Forgotten or Expired Password service. To use the Forgotten or Expired Password service, you must configure it BEFORE you need to use it!
How to configure the Forgotten or Expired Password service for later use
(This is typically a one-time process.)
- Go to UWP Password Self-Service.
- Click on Setup Responses.
- Enter your UW-Platteville NetID and password
- Click on the Login button
Since this is the first time you have logged in to Password Management, you will be asked to define your responses to the challenge questions. You must also supply one challenge question & response of your own.
WARNING: Your answers to the challenges are case-sensitive! Remember how you typed them!
- Enter a Challenge Response for every Admin-defined required question
- Enter a Challenge Response for every Admin-defined random question and enter a User-Supplied question and response
- Click on the Save Responses button
- Click on Continue.
- Click on Logout.
How to use the Forgotten or Expired Password service
- Go to UWP Password Self-Service.
- Click on the Forgotten Password link
- Enter your UW-Platteville NetID
- Click on the Search button
- Enter responses to the three challenge questions presented
(NOTE: The challenge questions will be composed of two Admin-defined required questions and one randomly selected question from the pool of the two remaining Admin-defined random questions and your User-Supplied question.)
- Click on the Check Responses button
- (Make note of how the password policy affects the properties of your new password)
- Enter your new password
- As you are typing in your new password messages will be displayed in the box above "New Password" to show if the password meets the requirements.
- Enter your new password again to confirm
- Click on the Change Password button.
- Click on Continue.
