Windows users can use the functionality of the Novell NetWare client for Windows to check the disk quota setting and space remaining for specific network directories.
To view the disk quota for a directory, open up Windows Explorer and browse to the directory you are looking for. Right-click on the directory, and select Properties. When the Properties window appears, select the NetWare Info tab. You should see a window similar to:
Space Restriction: is the disk quota for this directory. In this example, this disk quota is 102,400 kilobytes, or 100 megabytes.
Space Available: is the amount of disk space that can be used before the quota is met. In this example, 57,728 kilobytes, or 56.4 megabytes are still available for use.
When you fill up the quota for a directory, your operating system will give you an error if you try to save anything to this directory. Depending on the operating system, you may see one of the following errors:
(The file sample.txt is used in these examples)
Windows 2000
Mac OS 9
Or, you may receive a message similar to one of the following depending on your OS and client version:
Unable to write to device ___
A disk error has occurred when attempting to save ___
Client32: Out of disk space writing file ___ to server ___
If you receive one of these error messages, check your disk quota. Chances are that you have no or very little quota left. You can increase your available quota be deleting or archiving data.
