Why isn't my wireless network connection working?

Two reasons for this are:
  1. Two or more internet connections are bridged (Windows XP only)
  2. Internet Connection sharing is turned on (Windows 2000, Windows XP)
When configuring Windows XP using the network setup wizard, Internet connections can be bridged automatically, or shared for all network users.

The bridging problem can be solved by opening up Network Connections, selecting all network connections under the Network Bridge header, right-click on one of those connections and click Remove from Bridge.

Internet Connection Sharing can be turned off by right-clicking on the Wireless Network connection, click properties, go to the advanced tab, and uncheck the box next to Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection.
