University-owned computers running a Level 1 or Level 2 operating system must be properly configured to be connected to the campus network. This also requires that a minimal set of software is installed on the workstation.
Windows 2000
- Windows 2000 Service Pack (Minimum: Service Pack 4, Recommended: Service Pack 4)
- Run Windows Update and install all critical updates. (Automatic Updates must be set to ON)
- Novell NetWare Client (Minimum: 4.90 SP2, Recommended: 4.91 SP3)
- ZENworks Management Agent (Minimum: 6.5 SP1, Recommended: 7.0 SP1)
- Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition (Minimum: 10.1.0.396, Recommended: 10.1.5.5000)
- Microsoft File and Print Sharing must be removed.
Windows XP Professional
- Windows XP Service Pack (Minimum: Service Pack 2, Recommended: Service Pack 2)

Windows XP Home Edition is not supported on University-owned computers, and is not recommended for student-owned computers (ResNet). See this statement of support.
Mac OS X 10.3/10.4
- Run Software Update and install all critical updates. (Check for updates automatically must be Enabled)
- All File Sharing services must be set to OFF.
- Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh (Minimum: 10.0, Recommended: 10.2)
