Extended study hours

Starting Tuesday, Jan. 27, the Wright Center will be having extended hours Tuesdays until 6 p.m. Come study in a quiet environment with all the comforts of home. Use the microwave, fridge, computers, and study chairs and tables. If we have enough interest we will plan on adding extended hours on Thursdays also.

Wright Center Sponsored Computer Check Out

The Wright center has purchased two computers, with card readers and we have teamed with Information Technology Services to make them awailable at the Help Desk (first floor Karrmann Library) for a week-long check out with a valid student ID. We also have computers available at 322 Royce, with card readers, for daily use druing office hours.

Post Cards to Deployed Soldiers

Have you ever thought about sending a letter to our deployed soldiers? Well now is your chance.

Come to The Wright Center for Veterans and Non-Traditional Students (Royce Hall 322) and grab some post cards.
We will mail them for you!

Non-Traditional Student Scholarships

The Wright Center has obtained five $1,000 scholarships designed for Non-Traditional students only. Visit the UW-Platteville Financial Aid webpage for more information, www.uwplatt.edu/financial-aid/scholarships-general

Wisconsin Veteran Scholarships

The Weber and Overholt scholarships are offered for the 2015-16 academic year. The application deadline is May 1, 2015. Download the applications below.

Life Experience - Making it Work on Your Resume!

The Wright Center is joining up with the Academic and Career Advising Center to help Non-Traditional Students and Veterans explore ways to utilize their life experiences on their resumes. Other helpful ideas and services will be shared to help Non-Traditional students be more successful!

Marcia Anderson

Major General Marcia Anderson was the first African Ameri-can woman in the army to attain this rank. Join us as she dis-cusses leadership, tips for first generation college students, what students can expect and how they can succeed when they leave college. She will talk about how her military training and experience has influenced her management and leadership style as she shares her story of struggles and successes This event is worth 2 Lawton Grant points.

Rob Smith - "Closets, Combat and Coming Out"

Rob speaks openly and honestly about his experiences with homophobia and racism while serving in the United States Arm and about the importance of finding your voice as an LGBT person when his fight against DADT took him all the way to the front gates of the White House in protest.

Balancing School and Kids

Join Stacia Stephensonfor a discussion on how to balance school, work and kids. She will share from her life experience of attending school while having a family. Great discussion opportunity for those who attend UW-Platteville while having responsibilities that differ from the traditional college student.

Graduation Celebration

The Wright Center would like to celebrate its Non-Traditional and Veteran Student graduates by hosting a reception. Graduates are invited to come and recieve a gift and are welcome to invite a friend and enjoy refreshments as we help celebrate their success.
