The School of Education offers many options for scholarships, loan repayment, and other financial aid options for new and continuing students. Browse the scholarships that are only available to new freshmen in the University of Wisconsin-Platteville School of Education.

To apply for a scholarship, complete the application by Feb. 1.

New freshman scholarships 

Edith Parkins Scholarship
Candidates: Graduate of River Ridge (Wisconsin) High School and pursuing a degree in elementary education (K-8).

Hazel and Godfrey Struebing Scholarship
Candidates: Full-time student enrolled in the School of Education. Preference will be given to those who have overcome disabilities, have shown extraordinary accomplishments in community service, have scored among the top 20% of students in their high school graduation class, or are from Sauk County, Wisconsin.

James Belogia Scholarship
Candidates: Pursuing a degree in education to establish a teaching career and must demonstrate financial need based off their FAFSA submission.

Lloyd Daughenbaugh Scholarship
Candidates: Planning to pursue a degree in education.

Louis and Jeannette Dull Brunckhorst Scholarship
Candidates: Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and be pursuing a degree in education with an emphasis in art, economics, English, ethnic studies, French, German, history, music, philosophy, political science, psychology, sociology, Spanish, speech, theater, or women's studies.

Patricia Magnuson Memorial Scholarship
Candidates: Major in education from the Schaumburg, Illinois School District. Must demonstrate financial need.

Reiser Family Scholarship
Candidates: Graduate from Platteville (Wisconsin) High School who is majoring in education.

William and Karen Schilling Scholarship
Candidates: Graduate from Platteville High School who is majoring in education and can demonstrate financial need.

Students with a major in the UW-Platteville School of Education

Browse the scholarships available to students with a major in the School of Education. Students must have completed one semester on campus, be a full-time student, and pursuing a degree on campus. To apply for a scholarship, complete application by March 1.

Beatrix Marie Lawson Scholarship Candidates: Pursuing a degree in education with an emphasis in kindergarten-primary grades.

Candidates: Individual showing a commitment to teaching middle level education.

David and Lou Ann Markee Scholarship in Education
Candidates: Pursuing a degree in education with a GPA of 2.75 or higher and a strong participation in extracurricular activities.

Dawnson and Marie Trine Family Scholarship
Candidates: Freshmen, sophomores, or juniors with a GPA of 3.0 and a GPA of 3.5 in education classes. Financial need is a consideration.

Dr. James C. Stoltenberg Memorial Scholarship
Candidates: Pursuing a degree in math, science or technology education and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Dr. Karen Schilling Memorial Scholarship
Candidates: Pursuing a degree in math, science, or technology education with a scholastic ability.

Elisa Ann Neal Scholarship
Candidates: Pursuing a degree in education at the primary level, pre-kindergarten through sixth or first through sixth, and have an emphasis in language arts.

Elmer and Berenice McNett Scholarship
Candidates: Pursuing a degree in secondary education and demonstrate scholastic achievement.

Ernie Krogman and Pat Schroeder Memorial Scholarship
Candidates: Graduate of Lancaster (Wisconsin) High School and pursuing a degree in education.

Florence Frydenlund Memorial Scholarship
Candidates: Pursuing a degree in education or teaching with an emphasis in elementary education. Must have a GPA of 2.55 or higher and be involved in extracurricular activities.

Frank Pross Scholarship
Candidates: Junior or senior majoring or minoring in English and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Gary Ann Pitts Memorial Scholarship
Candidates: Pursuing a degree in elementary or middle level education. Must display scholastic achievement, moral character, and leadership.

Georgeanne Freudenreich Scholarship
Candidates: Nontraditional women student with special consideration given to students taking courses in women's studies, education, or a discipline not traditionally pursued by women.

Gordon H. and Reta Wales Shepard Scholarship
Candidates: Must be at least at sophomore level in the School of Education and a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Harold and Dolores Hutcheson Scholarship
Candidates: Pursuing a degree in education and displays scholastic achievement and professional development.

Huldamae Fiske Scholarship
Candidates: Pursuing a degree in education with the intention to teach in special education.

Iota Rho Chapter - Kappa Delta Pi Scholarship
Candidates: Sophomore or above pursuing a degree in education and maintaining a high GPA.

Irving Stocker Memorial Scholarship
Candidates: Pursuing a degree in education.

Iva (Whitford) Polkinghorn Scholarship
Candidates: Pursing a degree in education, have completed 30 credits, has a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and can demonstrate how this scholarship will benefit them. Participation in educational community service is preferred.

John William Livingston Scholarship
Candidates: Pursuing a degree in education and demonstrate achievement and professional potential.

Kalile-Baumgartner Education Scholarship
Candidates: Third-or fourth-year student pursuing a degree in elementary education.

Kinschi Reid Scholarship
Candidates: Must have at least junior standing, a GPA of 2.75 or higher, major in education, and must "promote the basics of excellent teaching." Preference will be given to secondary education majors from Platteville, Janesville, Kaukauna, and Monona Grove school districts in Wisconsin.

Lenna M. Burgett Memorial Scholarship
Candidates: Junior or senior pursuing a degree in elementary education with a concentration in reading and language arts and have a GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Leona (Wiseman) Stephenson Scholarship
Candidates: Junior or senior pursuing a degree in elementary education and a teaching career in kindergarten through fourth grade. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Leonard H. Eisert Scholarship
Candidates: Pursuing a degree in elementary education and has maintained a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Lois Goldman Memorial Scholarship
Candidates: Pursuing a degree in education.

Candidates: Junior or senior pursuing a degree in elementary education. Preference will be given to those who graduated from a Grant County Wisconsin high school, especially Platteville High School.

Mary Alice Hendershot Memorial Scholarship
Candidates: Junior or senior pursuing a degree in elementary, middle, or secondary education and demonstrate scholastic achievement with potential for excellence in teaching.

Nia Lauryn Nicole Proctor Early Childhood Scholarship
Candidates: Pursuing a degree in early childhood education.

Ralph E. Balliette Memorial Scholarship
Candidates: Must demonstrate scholastic achievement, moral character, leadership, and show promise for a career in school administration.

Roman and Joan Borkovec Scholarship
Candidates: Junior with a GPA of 2.65 or higher and pursuing a degree in agriculture or education.

Candidates: Enrolled in the School of Education and demonstrate academic excellence.

Verna Mae Perry Memorial Scholarship
Candidates: Pursuing a degree in elementary education, preferably with an emphasis in art education.

William P. Gardner and Jane Liddle Gardner Scholarship
Candidates: Junior or senior pursuing a degree in education, shows great promise in teaching and has the potential to be a credit to the teaching profession.

Other financial opportunities  

Teacher Education Loan
The Teacher Education Loan program provides loans to Wisconsin residents, undergraduate sophomores, juniors, or seniors who are enrolled at least half-time at a University of Wisconsin System institution or a nonprofit, independent college or university in Wisconsin.

You must be enrolled in programs leading to teacher licensure in a discipline identified as a teacher shortage area for Wisconsin by the United States Department of Education and have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher based on a 4.0 scale.

Loan forgiveness or loan Cancellation

Under this program, a teacher must be full-time for five years in a low-income school and must meet all qualifications. Please refer to the DPI website for more information.
