UWP's international efforts enhanced with foundation grant
PLATTEVILLE - A University of Wisconsin-Platteville proposal "Enhancing the International Initiative," intended to support international exchanges and the UWP Study Abroad Program, was recently funded by the UW-Platteville Foundation Opportunity Fund.
Funding will enhance UWP's international initiatives and the development of materials to promote international study opportunities, including support for an international connections fair.
The proposal was submitted by Susan Hansen, College of Business, Industry Life Science and Agriculture; Wally Iselin, College of Liberal Arts and Education; Lisa Riedle, College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science and Barbara Daus, special assistant to the Chancellor.
Promotional items supported by the grant include costs associated with the January 2003 International Day and establishing a campus wide international website and database development for all programs with links to individual program sites.
Future plans call for hiring a student assistant to create an international opportunities website with a link to UWP's Study Abroad Program website.
UWP has successfully established partnerships with several post secondary education institutions outside the U.S., and the grant from the UWP Foundation will enhance these efforts.
The UW-Platteville Foundation Opportunity Fund awarded $45,000 for 15 grants this year. The Foundation initiated the Opportunity Fund program in 1998-99, and total number of grants thus far is 86, with a total monetary value of $411,000.
