Musical groups from the Platteville community and UWP will entertain during the banquet and will be featured at the concert. New this year is an instrumental ensemble that will perform holiday favorites, with a twist. UWP Fine Arts chair Dan Fairchild said this year's event will include "a couple of surprises musically. There will be additionally madrigal and barbershop music."

The UWP Fine Arts Department initiated the Holiday Gala in 1996, bringing beauty and joy through music and food. The event generates funding for music scholarships.

The competitive scholarships awarded from this fund are used to attract and retain the best and brightest musicians, contributing to the overall excellence of UWP's music program.

UWP Chancellor David Markee is looking forward to the annual event.

"We know that our students, faculty, staff and community adult and children musicians are already preparing for this festive event and that they are eager to share their enthusiasm and energy with you.

"We do thank you for your continued support of UW-Platteville and of the arts. In addition to bringing beauty and joy to our lives through music, this special event helps to generate funding for music scholarships."

The competitive scholarships awarded from this fund are used to attract and retain the best and brightest musicians, thus contributing to the overall excellence of our music program in southwest Wisconsin.
