UW-Platteville Foundation to sponsor Student Giving Days
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Foundation will hold its fourth annual Student Giving Days from May 1-3. The foundation will raffle off three scholarships: one for $1000, one for $500, and one for $250.
Raffle tickets will be sold outside the west door of the Markee Pioneer Student Center from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. all three days. One ticket costs $5 and five tickets cost $20.
“It’s hard for students to see the impact alumni giving back has,” said Ryan Thill, a Student Pioneer Development Officer at the Foundation. “Alumni donations give us new buildings and scholarships, among other things. If we come together it’s easier to provide gifts to make school more affordable.”
Any extra funds from raffle ticket sales are added to the fund for next year’s scholarships. “The more money raised, the more money for scholarships,” said Thill.
This is the first year that Student Giving Days has been themed, and the scholarships being awarded total $250 more than last years’ total. “Every year people are more involved,” said Thill. “We hope to expand the program into something that happens in the fall as well as the spring, and possibly throughout the year.”
