Theatre program presents ‘A Christmas Carol’ on Dec. 8
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville theatre program and Pioneer Players will present a benefit stage reading of Charles Dickens’ beloved holiday classic “A Christmas Carol” at the Center for the Arts Theatre on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. All tickets are $5 and the proceeds for the performance will go to the Engineers Without Borders organization on campus. Hot cocoa, cider and cookies will be available following the performance.
The play will be performed by UW-Platteville faculty and staff members, including Mike Breitner, Dr. Daniel Dahlquist, Dr. Jennifer DeCoste, Provost Dr. Mittie N. Den Herder, Bill Haskins, Dr. David Schuler, Jeffrey Strange, Jeff Tebbe and Tyler Tollefson. Dr. Trey Davis will play several Christmas carols as part of an audience sing-a-long during the performance. Dr. Ann Farrelly, associate professor of theatre, is organizing the event.
The reading is part of the Department of Performing and Visual Arts’ week-long celebration of “Holidays at the CFA,” which begins with performances of “Hansel and Gretel” by the music program’s Opera Workshop on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 11 a.m. and Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. The celebration will conclude with the program’s 18th annual Holiday Gala on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 13-14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Richard and Helen Brodbeck Concert Hall.
