Student Ambassadors raise nearly $10,000
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — University of Wisconsin-Platteville Student Ambassadors raised nearly $10,000 this fall through a tuition giveaway raffle. Starting at new student orientation and ending during family weekend, 15 Student Ambassador volunteers sold raffle tickets for the chance to win a free semester of in-state tuition, a $1,000 scholarship or one of two $500 scholarships.
Ambassadors sold 2,136 tickets. “This year, we were fortunate enough to have the grand prize winner and his family in the audience when we drew the winning tickets,” said Cassidy Krause Fund raising chair for Student Ambassadors, “Talking to them and sharing their excitement made all of the hard work worthwhile.”
Krause also said that this fund-raiser is an excellent opportunity for not only Student Ambassadors, but for the university as well. “I think it is a great way for Student Ambassadors to give back to UW-Platteville, through not only the prizes, but also through donating the majority of our profits to a continuing education endowment,” said Krause.
Ambassadors donated $2,855.96 of the proceeds to the continuing education endowment. They also kept a portion of the proceeds in order to fund other service projects on campus and in the Platteville community.
“I love being a part of an organization that truly gives back to the university,” said Krause.
