Sen. Johnson visits UW-Platteville
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — United States Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) engaged 20 University of Wisconsin-Platteville faculty and staff members in a discussion about higher education during a visit to Engineering Hall Aug. 14.
“We had a very robust discussion about educational productivity and the challenges UW-Platteville faces, but also the benefit UW-Platteville provides to the community, not only the surrounding community, but the state of Wisconsin, really for America. I just really enjoyed the visit,” the senator said.
Johnson said what he took away most from his tour of the engineering labs was the university’s commitment to hands-on learning. “Taking that academic learning and applying it to a particular project is extremely important,” he said. “It’s what should be done at engineering schools, and I’m very pleased to see that’s what is being done at UW-Platteville.”
