Lifetime Pioneer Award Recipients

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — Lorraine Sabo, a fall graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, has been selected as a Lifetime Pioneer. The designation was made by the UW-Platteville Alumni Association, which annually recognizes outstanding graduates by awarding them life membership in the association, currently a $400 value.

The award is based on a variety of criteria, including campus activities, leadership, community involvement, professional development and employment, academic excellence, and anticipated future involvement in the Alumni Association.

Sabo, from Sun Prairie, Wis., earned her master’s degree in project management from the Distance Learning Center. This is her second master’s degree. She also holds a Ph.D. in paper science from the Georgia Institute of Technology and is the co-author of numerous presentations and peer-reviewed publications in her field.

Sabo completed her graduate education at UW-Platteville while working as the senior research and development engineer for Xolve Inc. in Middleton, Wis.

She said UW-Platteville’s online program was her saving grace, as it allowed for her to pursue additional education while maintaining a full-time job and raising a family.
