Primmer receives WDPA scholarship
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. —Aleda Primmer, a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville has recently been awarded the 2013 Wisconsin Dairy Products Association Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded each year to a deserving student pursuing a career in the dairy industry. Primmer will receive her scholarship at the WDPA World Dairy Expo Championship Dairy Product Contest auction on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
Primmer is an animal science major from La Farge, Wis., where she was active on dairy farms in her family. During school, Primmer was active in 4-H and FFA. While at UW-Platteville, Primmer has been involved with the Pioneer Dairy Club, Alpha Zeta Agriculture Honors Fraternity, Wilgus Hall Council, Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma honor societies.
Primmer cites the staff as the best part of the School of Agriculture at UW-Platteville. “The professors are very knowledgeable in the School of Agriculture,” said Primmer. “They really take the time to give students attention and enjoy the subjects they teach.” The School of Agriculture and small class sizes drew Primmer to UW-Platteville.
In the future, Primmer plans to own a dairy farm and work with other dairy producers to increase the efficiency of their farms. “The field of agriculture is growing and I want to be part of it,” said Primmer.
