Lindahl earns academic staff award for excellence

Gary Lindahl, University of Wisconsin-Platteville technology support and lecturer in the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science, has been said to possess a helping nature that is a gift to others. Known as the go-to person for implementing new tools to make operational tasks as seamless and easy as possible, Lindahl is being honored with the 2022 Academic Staff Award for Excellence.

Lindahl’s colleagues describe him as someone with integrity, a commitment to maintaining and enhancing the college’s webpages and someone who is helpful through his willingness to research and learn how to use new technologies that will benefit others.

“I am grateful and honored for the opportunity to be recognized with this award by my university peers,” said Lindahl. “This award recognizes my efforts in supporting the College of EMS faculty, staff and students. It also provides inspiration and value for my working on a diversity of tasks and efforts supporting the university.”

Throughout his career, Lindahl’s work has helped support research to advance immersive display technologies around the world. His interests have been focused on web page design, interface design and integrating technology for visualization technologies, which he displays through his support of website content and college projects that require technology support in the College of EMS.

Lindahl currently teaches computer applications using Windows version of Microsoft Office and Excel for Business. His favorite part of teaching is being able to provide helpful answers to student questions, demonstrating options and solutions and presenting new, interesting information to students.

Lindahl will be recognized at the university’s convocation on Thursday, Sept. 1.
