Students fare well at World Dairy Expo competitions

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Dairy Judging Team competed at the World Dairy Expo and the Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest in Madison, Wis. this past week.

The practical contest of the World Dairy Expo was held on Sunday. Senior team members included Taylor Riedel of Sauk City, Wis.; Miranda Randall of Platteville, Wis.; Alana Voss of Mauston, Wis.; and Rachel Gilson of Monticello, Wis. Riedel received the high individual, Randall finished ninth and Voss placed tenth. The team placed second overall.

The senior team that competed at the Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest included Cassy Krull of Lake Mills, Wis.; Allison Quick of Oconomowoc, Wis.; Sarah Adamson of Milton, Wis.; and Felicia Bohn of Watertown, Wis. Krull placed fourth overall in Holstein Breed and received All-American honors, Bohn finished fourth overall in Milking Shorthorn Breed and the team finished third overall. The team placed ninth out of 18 in the contest.

Student artwork to be featured at Dubuque event

Eight University of Wisconsin-Platteville art students will be entering their art pieces into the Dubuque Fall Into Art Gallery Tour this weekend.

The Fall Into Art Gallery Tour is a free tour that takes places throughout downtown Dubuque that guides guests to 13 art locations that premiers works such as collections of paintings, pottery, photography, mixed media art, installation art and design graphics.

Andrea Reynolds of Lancaster, Wis.; Paola Martinez of Belmont, Wis.; Jennifer Castro of Houston, Texas; Stacy Kieler of Cuba City, Wis.; Emily Ramsey of Mineral Point, Wis.; Graham Kjelland of Platteville, Wis.; Carley Rote of McConnell Ill.; and Holly Nygaard of Platteville, Wis. will each present their works in screen prints, graphic design, 2-D design, drawing and linoleum block prints.
