UWP offers study abroad fair for all students

PLATTEVILLE - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville's Education Abroad Office is hosting its annual spring study abroad fair on March 3 in the Harry and Laura Nohr Art Gallery in Ullsvik Hall. The event is set to take place between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Students are encouraged to stop by the study abroad fair to learn more about the international opportunities available through the UWP Education Abroad Office.

Booths will be set up representing different locations and programs available for students to study abroad. Study abroad alumni from each country will be at their respective booths to answer any questions that interested students have.

"Having past participants available to answer any prospective students' questions is a great way to get students interested in studying abroad. Past participants decorate their country's booth and bring in pictures or souvenirs to get students excited to study abroad," said Victoria Hribar, marketing intern at the study abroad office and Seville, Spain study abroad alumni.

Students can also receive information from affiliate study abroad programs. If students do not choose to study abroad through the study abroad programs that UWP offers they can study abroad through affiliate programs, such as study abroad programs through UW-Oshkosh and UW-La Crosse. Information about exchange programs and short-term programs will also be available.

In addition, students can obtain information about financial aid, scholarships and grants to help fund their study abroad experience. Students can get questions answered about passports from the post office with representatives also present at the event. Airfare and travel questions can be answered by traveling agencies.

"Studying abroad is an amazing opportunity that all students should take advantage of. It widens one's understanding of different cultures, students have the opportunity to learn a new language, and it is an excellent resume builder. UWP students should definitely stop by the study abroad fair to learn about the numerous opportunities available," said Hribar.
