UWP Pioneer Farm hosts Pre-Vet Camp
PLATTEVILLE - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneer Farm will be hosting a Pre-Veterinary Camp from Thursday, June 25 through Friday, June 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The camp is designed for students entering grades 10,11 and 12 who have an interest in exploring careers in animal science.
During the camp, students will have a chance to observe and practice several veterinary skills and techniques. They will practice hands-on activities like suturing and injections, reproductive physiology, animal behavior and handling large animal diagnostics and small animal physical exams.
"During the camp, students will benefit by working with professionals and exploring animal health in small groups. This is a great way for students to learn more about veterinary medicine and tips for success as they pursue the career," said Alicia Prill-Adams, assistant Pioneer farm director.
The cost of the camp is $250 and includes meals, snacks, a t-shirt, all materials and overnight accommodations. The registration deadline is June 10. The Pioneer Farm is located at 29200 College Farm Road. For more information or to register for the camp, visit uwplatt.edu/soa/prevetcamp/ or contact Prill-Adams at prilliada@uwplatt.edu or (608) 342-1119.
