PLATTEVILLE- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville will hold its annual Engineering, Mathematics and Science Expo on Thursday, April 2. The UWP College of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science will host the EMS Expo, which will take place from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. in Ottensman Hall on the UWP campus.

Displays and demonstrations will be conducted by the students involved with the College of EMS, including civil and environmental engineering, computer science and software engineering, electrical engineering, chemistry and engineering physics, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering and mathematics. Visitors to the exhibits will be able to watch principles of math and science and action as well as visit with UWP students and ask any questions they have.

Students, and any other interested participants, also have the opportunity to play computer games developed by students in the software engineering and computer science departments. A one-hour interactive course titled Sustainability in Engineering is open to 20 high school students who want to learn more about engineering's role in developing ecologically sustainable practices. Students or faculty are encouraged to pre-register for the program by contacting Philip Parker, UWP professor of civil engineering, by e-mailing him at parkerp@uwplatt.edu.

The Expo is free to all, but some competitions have a minimal fee to offset the cost of materials.
