UWP plans first all-day trip to Chicago
PLATTEVILLE - On Saturday, March 28, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Campus Programming and Relations will sponsor a daylong trip to Chicago. The bus will depart from the Pioneer Student Center on the UWP campus at 7 a.m. and will return late that evening. Any student enrolled at UWP is invited to attend.
Events planned for the day are tours of the Field Museum of Natural History and the Art Institute. Students will also visit the Magnificent Mile on North Michigan Avenue to explore the museums, landmarks, restaurants and over 400 shops located there.
This is a new UWP event designed to give students an out-of-the-classroom artistic and cultural experience. Plans for next year's Chicago trip include attending a Broadway play.
CPR event managers Nicole Evans, Tioa Mannery and Sarah Schultz will be leading the event with Valerie Wetzel, assistant director for the Pioneer Student Center.
"Our job at CPR is to give students a life outside the classroom," said Evans. "I'm hoping that the students enjoy themselves and meet some new people while embracing culture and finding a deeper meaning in art."
The deadline for registration is Friday, March 13. Students may register at the Pioneer Involvement Center located on the first floor of the PSC. A $10 deposit upon registration is required. The event cost is $36; this includes the bus deposit, admission into the museums and a free deli lunch. A limit of 55 students may sign up.
