UWP Residence Hall Association to host blood drive

PLATTEVILLE - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Residence Hall Association will host its 31st annual blood drive Tuesday, March 3 through Thursday, March 5 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Velzy Commons in Ullsvik Hall.

During the fall drive, the RHA raised 724 units of blood, the second highest number in 30 years. This semester the association hopes to receive 810 donated units. All donors will be eligible for an hourly drawing, during which T-shirts and chamber bucks from the Platteville Chamber of Commerce will be given away.

Anyone interested in making an appointment to donate can visit givebloodgivelife.org. Also, RHA staff will be on hand in the UWP Pioneer Student Center from Monday, Feb. 23 through Friday, Feb. 27 to sign people up for appointments.

"People are always in need of blood, whether it's in our community, state, country or across the globe. This is a quick and easy way to volunteer and give back," said Andrea Thede, advisor to the UWP Residence Hall Association.

Anyone interested in learning more about how to donate may contact Thede at (608) 342-1844 or thedea@uwplatt.edu.
