UWP alumnus receives Jaycee award at state leve

PLATTEVILLE - Russell Hill, University of Wisconsin-Platteville production manager for Media Technology Services and UWP alumnus, received the Statesman Award at the Wisconsin Junior Chamber Jaycee's State Convention in Waupaca on Feb. 7.

The Statesman Award is one of the highest honors bestowed by the Jaycees and is given to those individuals who have shown great dedication and commitment to the organization.

The Lancaster Jaycees nominated Hill for his role as southwest regional director last year. "He spent countless hours traveling to events and meetings, which kept the region together through communication and brought chapters closer," said Tiffany Bielenberg of the Lancaster Jaycees.

"The Jaycees is a great organization for young people and it helps people reach outside of themselves and develop leadership skills all in the name of helping the local community," Hill said. "I am extremely honored to have received the Statesman Award."

Hill's career as a Jaycee began nine years ago when he moved to Virginia. As his career took him to Mississippi, Missouri and back to Wisconsin, he continued to join the local Jaycee chapters and has held multiple offices within the organization. Hill was president of the Platteville Jaycees in 2007 and he is currently serving as the vice president of membership with the Cuba City Jaycees.

Hill will marry his fiancÄe Kari Dreessens this spring. Dreessens is also a graduate of UWP and they met during their membership with the Platteville Jaycees.
