UWP guest speaker to educate community on entrepreneurship
PLATTEVILLE- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization will host guest speaker George Krueger, executive director of the Platteville Area Industrial Development Corporation. This free event will take place Monday, Feb. 9, in Room 1137 in Ullsvik Hall on the UWP campus at 6 p.m. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
Krueger will address entrepreneurship activities and industrial development opportunities. He will also present case studies of area businesses that grew and became successful from entrepreneurial activities. A question-and-answer session will follow his presentation.
"This will broaden people's horizons in the entrepreneurial aspect. Even if people aren't thinking about starting their own business, they will still be able to network with community business people and get more familiar with area businesses," said Allan Kunz, president of CEO Club.
CEO Club is a new student organization that is open to all students in good standing. Alumni, faculty, staff and Platteville area business owners are eligible for associate membership. One of the club's goals is for associate members to build relationships with and advise regular members. They meet every other Monday in Room 1137 in Ullsvik Hall at 6 p.m. and host guest speakers throughout the semester. A regular meeting will follow Krueger's presentation.
"There's a lot we can learn from guest speakers' experience. It's also an opportunity for mentorship," said Kunz.
