UWP Marching Pioneers perform 'Last Blast' of the season

PLATTEVILLE - As the University of Wisconsin-Platteville's football season comes to a close, as does the marching band season. On Sunday, Nov 16, the Marching Pioneers will be performing their last concert of the season. This year, the concert will take place from 11 a.m. to noon in the gymnasium of Williams Fieldhouse.

The themes for the 2008 marching season were film music and heroic themes, with all of the songs played this year coming from film scores. The band will be performing songs such as the theme from "The Incredibles" and the theme from "E.T." as well as standards such as "Hey Baby" and "Brown Eyed Girl." The Rangerettes will be dancing along with the Marching Pioneers on a few tunes. This concert will also serve to honor four-year members and graduating seniors.

Matt Gregg, associate director of bands at UWP, said, "The Last Blast is a really entertaining way for us (the Marching Pioneers) to wrap up the UWP football season and thank, through our performance, all of those people within and outside of our organization for making it such an enjoyable fall. It also serves as a great way for campus and community members to kick off their football Sunday prior to the big Packers/Bears game."
