UWP students receive Gerald Cooper Scholarship
PLATTEVILLE- Five University of Wisconsin-Platteville students were awarded the Gerald Cooper Scholarship at the School of Agriculture banquet.
This scholarship has been awarded to UWP students for over 20 years. It is an endowed scholarship funded by Jerry and Fran Cooper, UWP graduates from Richland Center.
Recipients were Jennifer Henschel, Whitney Rathke, Cody Sorge, Carrie Wiese and Sarah Ritter.
Henschel is a junior majoring in animal science with an emphasis in pre-veterinary medicine. She is involved in Pre-Vet Club, football and basketball cheerleading, and was voted most improved for the football cheer season. Henschel is the daughter of Jon and Jan Henschel of Clintonville.
Rathke is a sophomore majoring in agribusiness. She is a 2007 membership candidate for Sigma Alpha, Porter Hall's Executive Board Member of the Year and recipient of Porter Hall's All Star Resident Award. Rathke is the daughter of Stephen R. Rathke of Fredonia.
Sorge is a junior majoring in agribusiness with a minor in animal science. He is the recipient of the Vice Noble Ruler-Scholarship for Alpha Gamma Rho and a member of Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma national honor societies. Sorge is the son of Timothy and Patsy Sorge of Blue River.
Wiese is a sophomore majoring in animal science with an emphasis in pre-veterinary medicine. She is involved in Collegiate FFA, Pre-Vet Club and Sigma Alpha. She also made the Dean's List and was invited to join Phi Eta Sigma and Alpha Lambda Delta national honor societies. Wiese is the daughter of Donald and Joan Wiese Jr. of Brownsville.
Ritter is a sophomore majoring in ornamental horticulture with an emphasis in business and marketing. She has attended the Wisconsin United Residence Hall Association and the Great Lakes Affiliates of College and University Residence Halls leadership conferences, and is a member of Dobson Hall Residence Hall Association and Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma national honor societies. Ritter is the daughter of David P. Ritter of Tomah.
