UWP celebrates 180th commencement ceremonies
PLATTEVILLE - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville will hold its spring 2008 commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 10 in the Williams Fieldhouse on the UWP campus. The 180th ceremonies will begin with the first ceremony at 9:30 a.m., which will honor students from the College of Business, Industry, Life Science and Agriculture and School of Graduate Studies. The second ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. and will honor students from the College of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science as well as those from the College of Liberal Arts and Education.
The principal speaker for the morning ceremony is David G. Walsh, who serves on the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents, graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a partner in the Madison office of Foley and Lardner, a national law firm. The senior valedictorian for the ceremony is Anthony J. Manoni, who will be graduating from the College of Business, Industry, Life Science and Agriculture with a degree in industrial technology management with an emphasis in computer integrated manufacturing and a minor in business administration.
Robert G. Ehlenfeldt and Thomas C. Leamer will be honored as Distinguished Alumni during the morning ceremony.
The afternoon ceremony will feature Michael A. Jansen, an alumnus of UWP and the chief executive officer at IIW Engineers and Surveyors, P.C. in Dubuque, Iowa, as the principal speaker, and Danen M. Detloff of the College of Mathematics, Engineering, and Science will be the senior valedictorian for the ceremony. Detloff will graduate with a major in industrial engineering with an engineering management emphasis and a minor in business administration.
James M. Chitwood and Kifle G. Gebremedhin will be honored as Distinguished Alumni during the afternoon ceremony.
The UWP Symphonic Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Matthew D. Gregg, will provide music for the ceremonies. The National Anthem and Alma Mater will be led by Kelsey J. Klug for the morning ceremony and Hilary A. Buttikofer for the afternoon ceremony.
