UWP to promote six dimensions of wellness at 14th annual wellness fair

PLATTEVILLE- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Student Health Services will be hosting the 14th annual wellness fair on March 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The wellness fair is a campus wide activity that educates and provides information to UWP students, faculty, staff and community on healthy living.

The theme of the wellness fair this year is "friends helping friends." Student health services hopes to teach participants to strive for a balance of life's six dimensions. The six focused dimensions are: intellectual stimulation, the rich life of emotions, the rewards of close relationships, responsible use of environmental resources, spiritual peaces and joy and a strong healthy body.

Intellectual stimulation can involve solving puzzles or learning. Social wellness includes meeting new people, joining groups, forming relationships or being supportive of someone in need. Physical wellness is maintaining the health of your body. The ability to feel and deal with emotions constructively is a sign of emotional well-being. Spiritual wellness can encompass worship, thankfulness, living a life of gratitude and a sense of belonging. Environmental wellness relates to trees, rivers and fossil fuels but also involves things like time and money.

The wellness fair will be located in the University Rooms and the Mining Room in the Pioneer Student Center. For more information, contact Jean Schlueter, Student Health Services, at (608) 342-1891 or schluetj@uwplatt.edu.
