Eight comedians to make UWP laugh out loud

PLATTEVILLE- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville will host eight nationally known comedians throughout the school year as part of Campus Programming and Relations' program, "Stand Up Saturdays." Approximately one performance each month will take place at 8 p.m. in the Pioneer Crossing of the Pioneer Student Center.

Actor, writer and comedian Jay Black kicks off the series on Sept. 15. Black began his comedy career at the Comedy Cabaret in Northeast Philadelphia, later appearing on Showtime's "White Boyz In The Hood" in 2006.

Amy Anderson takes the stage on Sept. 29. Creator of the first and longest running Asian-American stand up showcase, Chop-SHTICK, Anderson's television appearances include Comedy Central, VH1 and "The Tom Joyner Show" on ABC.

A regular at Catch a Rising Star Comedy Club, Rob Paravonian is on his third solo show, appearing on VH1 and Comedy Central. He comes to UWP on Nov. 10.

Daniel Kinno is a regular on Comedy Central, MTV, GSN, WB and "Boys Behaving Badly" and starred in a national ESPN commercial. Kinno brings his humor to UWP on Dec. 8.

On Jan. 26, 2008 winner of the 2002 Boston Comedy Festival and 2003 Boston's Best Comedy Act, Robbie Printz comes to UWP.

UWP hosts Pete Homes on Feb. 23, 2008. He has been seen on VH1's "Best Week Ever" and "All Access" and on Comedy Central's "Premium Blend" and "Honesty."

Roy Wood Jr. will perform during Pioneer Idol on March 8, 2008. A semi-finalist on CBS' "Star Search," Wood has been featured on the "Late Show with David Letterman," Comedy Central's "Bob and Tom Comedy Tour" and "Premium Blend" and showcased at the Montreal Comedy Festival.

The series concludes on April 5, 2008 with Retta. She has appeared on VH1's "The List," UPN's "Moesha" and Comedy Central's "Premium Blend."
