UWP seeks alumni award nominations

PLATTEVILLE - The College of Liberal Arts and Education at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is requesting nominations for its Hall of Fame awards, as well as other award categories. Nominations are due to the LAE dean's office by May 1, and nominations for these annual awards are accepted throughout the year.

The Arts and Letters Hall of Fame Committee is seeking nominations of alumni who have documented outstanding performance in arts and letters activities while a student at UW-Platteville and who graduated five or more years prior to the current year or; documented outstanding past or current teaching/facilitating or learning/coaching in the area of arts and letters for 15 or more years; or documented outstanding past or current contributions to the UWP arts and letters programs.

Mittie Nimocks, dean of LAE, explained that the college would like alumni to get more involved in the nominating process.

"Our alumni are in the best position to remember the activities of people while they were actually students here. Maybe they recall someone who was active in the theater or music performance, or someone who cultivated literary activity on campus. We're looking forward to our alumni sharing their memories with us," Nimocks said.

Additional awards are given out during Homecoming every year, and the college is also seeking nominations for those: Distinguished Educator Award, Arts and Letters Award, Professional Achievement Award, and the Friend of the College Award. Anyone interested in learning more about these awards or making nominations may visit the website atwww.uwplatt.edu/lae/Awards.html or contact the LAE dean's office at (608) 342-1151.
