PLATTEVILLE - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Center for the Arts announces a performance by the national tour of "A Kid's Life." This performance will be presented on March 6 at 7 p.m. in the Richard and Helen Brodbeck Concert Hall at the Center for the Arts building on campus.
"A Kid's Life" is a musical filled with wonderful music, exciting dancing and heartwarming characters. This inspiring new musical was created for children ranging from ages 2-8. The one-hour show begins with Zack, a 5 year old boy, and his best friend, a golden retriever named Starsky. Together they embark on a fun-filled adventure through their hometown where they meet Zoe, a spunky yet shy 5 year old girl, who is new to the town. Together, the children embark on a musical adventure where they meet new friends including the beautiful owl Bella, who reminds them that animals have feelings too; an orange tree named Bart that gives them get a better understanding of nature; an enchanting talking clock (Old Ben) that teaches the kids the importance of time; and the friendly store clerk Mr. Sullivan that helps the children understand just how wonderful "A Kid's Life" can be.
"What excites me about this show," according to John Hassig, director of the Center for the Arts at UWP, "is that the company doing this show has created activities related to the show that parents can do with their children before and after the performance. I have a 5 year old myself and I appreciate that the authors of "A Kid's Life" have created a show that is not only fun and entertaining, but educational as well." Pre-show activities are posted on the CFA website atwww.uwplatt.edu/arts/cfa/series/shows/kids.html Hassig also noted that Echo Pictures, the producer of "A Kid's Life," recently signed a development deal with Nickelodeon that could lead to a television series based on the show.
